People will tell you risk appetite and rising asset prices are strictly a result of expectations for the new normal that is monetary stimulus, quantitative easing.

Sure, the unstated goal of central bankers is to somehow eradicate risk and thereby support markets.

But we should have come to realize by now that there are limits to policy action; they are few, but there are limits here and there. Right now, the two central banks in the spotlight are battling some limits. The month of September will showcase these battles ...
